Carly Williams, M.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in the treatment of knee, shoulder, and hip injuries. She cares for athletes and active patients of all ages, from recreational athletes to elite competitors, with the goal of helping each patient return to the activities they love.
Dr. Williams treats a broad range of knee, shoulder, and hip conditions, including ACL and meniscus tears, rotator cuff and labral injuries, hip impingement, and cartilage injuries. Her surgical expertise includes arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction, meniscus and tendon repair, hip arthroscopy, and advanced cartilage restoration, with an emphasis on preserving the native joint whenever possible.
Originally from Louisiana, Dr. Williams earned her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University before attending Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She remained at Northwestern to complete her residency in orthopedic surgery and subsequently moved to Los Angeles for fellowship training in sports medicine at UCLA.
Throughout her training, Dr. Williams has combined clinical care with research and the care of competitive athletes. She has authored multiple scientific publications and participated in international medical experiences in India, Cambodia, and Ireland. Her sports medicine experience includes providing medical coverage for the Chicago Blackhawks, the NBA Draft Combine, UCLA football and athletics, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Los Angeles Sparks.
Dr. Williams believes that successful orthopedic care begins with understanding each patient’s individual goals. She works closely with her patients to pursue nonoperative treatment when appropriate and, when surgery is necessary, to develop a personalized treatment and rehabilitation plan designed to restore function and achieve a safe, durable return to activity.
Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, running, and reading.
